Outreach Programs

Oikos Helping Hand’s outreach programs provide quality education, sustainable livelihood support, and guidance to empower underserved slum communities. By offering resources, guidance, and skill-building opportunities, we help individuals overcome challenges, achieve self-sufficiency, and improve their overall well-being.

Agape Kids

Agape Kids is dedicated to empowering children from the poorest communities in the Philippines by providing them with the tools, knowledge, and support they need to rise out from poverty. Through engaging programs and activities, we nurture their potential and instill a sense of confidence and self-worth. By focusing on quality education, life skills, and emotional well-being, we aim to inspire kids to dream big and take charge of their futures. Together, we’re building a generation of empowered young leaders ready to make a positive impact in their communities.

Agape Youth

Agape Youth is committed to empowering young individuals to become active, engaged citizens and future nation-builders. Through comprehensive life skills training and educational programs, we promote a culture of lifelong learning and holistic personal growth. Our initiatives equip youth with the necessary tools to navigate life’s challenges and become responsible, contributing members of society. By instilling values of good citizenship and social responsibility, we inspire the next generation to lead with integrity and vision, driving positive change in their communities and beyond. Together, we are shaping the leaders of tomorrow who will build a brighter future for our nation.

Agape Ladies

The Agape Ladies initiative was founded in August 2007, inspired by the heartfelt desire of approximately 45 mothers honored during Parents Day by Agape Youth. Witnessing the meaningful connections and positive impact made by the youth, these mothers expressed a strong interest in joining Oikos Helping Hand’s transformative initiatives. This desire led to the establishment of Agape Ladies, a community that gathers for fellowship and Bible study sessions every Friday and Sunday.

Agape Ladies focuses on empowerment and solidarity among women, providing a supportive environment for personal and spiritual growth. Through shared experiences and faith, the group creates connections that inspire and uplift its members. Their theme song, “Before the World Began,” reflects the journey these women undertake together.

Agape Ladies actively engages in Livelihood Programs aimed at enhancing women’s economic independence and empowerment. These programs provide valuable skills and opportunities, helping participants to contribute to their families and communities.

This initiative highlights the power of community, where women find strength, inspiration, and purpose through collaboration. Agape Ladies aligns with the broader mission of women’s empowerment, emphasizing the importance of nurturing relationships, deepening spirituality, and creating spaces for personal development.

Agape Gentlemen

Agape Gentlemen, a community initiative within Oikos Helping Hand, is dedicated to promoting spiritual growth, fellowship, and camaraderie among its members. The group gathers for Bible Studies on Tuesdays and Fridays, delving into meaningful discussions and reflections on faith. The fellowship extends to Thursdays with the ‘Coffee Fellowship,’ where light refreshments are shared alongside personal updates and reflections from members. This regular interaction creates a positive group dynamic, fostering encouragement, affirmation, and mutual understanding.
Beyond spiritual engagement, Agape Gentlemen embraces a holistic approach to well-being. The monthly ‘Sports Fest’ stands out as a highlight, bringing members together for organized sports activities that combine fitness with laughter. This sports event has become a favorite among participants, providing not only an opportunity to exercise physical abilities but also promoting a sense of fun and mutual esteem.
Agape Gentlemen exemplifies the concept of being the “priests of the family,” not only through spiritual pursuits but also by creating a supportive community where individuals can uplift and engage with one another in various aspects of life. Through shared experiences, fellowship, and a commitment to holistic well-being, Agape Gentlemen continues to contribute to the positive growth and enrichment of its members within the Oikos Helping Hand community.

Income Generating Livelihood

The Income Generating Livelihood Programs (IGLP), initiated in 2005, reflects Oikos Helping Hand’s commitment to breaking the cycle of poverty by imparting valuable skills and promoting self-reliance. Rather than merely providing daily sustenance, the program emphasizes the philosophy: “Mentor someone on how to fish, so they can empower others to do the same—don’t merely provide a fish.” This approach empowers individuals with essential career and financial management skills.

Regular skills training and mentoring sessions are a key component of IGLP, offering participants the opportunity to acquire practical skills that enhance their employability or support the establishment of small businesses. The impact of this approach goes beyond individual empowerment; it extends to the broader community, creating a ripple effect of positive change.

One of the standout features of IGLP is the inclusion of an Ideathon for the youth, which encourages innovative thinking and problem-solving. This initiative allows young participants to brainstorm and develop creative solutions for local challenges, promoting a spirit of entrepreneurship and collaboration among them.

Additionally, IGLP features a Sustainable Fashion Initiative specifically designed for women, equipping them with skills in garment design and production. This initiative not only promotes financial independence but also emphasizes environmental sustainability through responsible fashion practices.

The success stories within IGLP speak volumes about the program’s efficacy. Many participants have achieved financial independence, breaking free from the cycle of poverty.

Agape Worship

Agape Worship, conceived on December 5, 2006, through a divine encounter where Maureen witnessed a “Team of Children Worshipers” with flags, came to fruition in March 2007. The next day, she heard about a “Conduct Children Worship” workshop and promptly approached City Mission Church’s Worship team. Responding to the call for a worship ministry, Agape Worship has flourished, and Maureen’s initial vision has manifested with delightful results.
This vibrant group, consisting of children aged 8-12 years old, has become proficient in both flag/banner presentations and tambourine accompaniments. Their worship not only showcases their artistic talents but also brings down the Spirit of God, creating a unique and spiritually enriching experience for the community. Agape Worship stands as a testament to the power of obedience and the joy that arises when children engage in heartfelt worship, becoming vessels for the divine presence.
